Bunsomavotey came up through ISF Cambodia’s football program in Phnom Penh, where every child is welcome on the pitch. She was recently chosen for the Cambodia National Team. One of their own, now playing for her country.

A Name to Remember

‍

Every day, players train on ISF Cambodia’s football pitch. Every year, the program welcomes players of all abilities. Most of them will never be famous.

‍

One of them was chosen for the Cambodia National Team.

‍

Her name is Bunsomavotey. She came up through the ISF football program, and recently the call came.

‍

“From our pitches to the national team,” ISF Cambodia wrote.

‍

More Than a Game

‍

For ISF Cambodia, football has never been only about football.

‍

It’s a pathway. A child puts on a uniform and stands a little taller. She learns to pass, to defend, to trust the players beside her. Health improves. Confidence follows.

‍

Off the field, a social impact curriculum carries the lessons further: teamwork, communication, respect, empathy, and the responsibility each player has to the people around her. It also addresses many questions that young people face today, among them gender equality and the rights of a child.

‍

Learning through play, as ISF Cambodia puts it.

‍

Room for Every Child

‍

The football grounds are more than playing fields. They’re a safe place, where a child can discover what she’s capable of.

‍

The gates are open to every child, regardless of gender, background, or ability. In fact, all abilities are welcomed and embraced. And the care extends beyond the pitch: players learn to use less plastic and manage waste, then carry those habits home to their neighborhoods.

‍

This year ISF Cambodia celebrates 20 years of opening doors for children through education, healthcare, and sports. One of those doors has opened to the Cambodia National Team.

‍

Well done, Bunsomavotey. The whole ISF family is proud of you.
