In a country fractured by civil unrest, children are often the ones who bear the heaviest burden. Orphan Relief Effort is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to helping vulnerable children through feeding programs, essential support, and community care in areas of deep poverty. Rooted in the biblical call of James 1:27 — to care for orphans in their distress — the Oklahoma-based organization has carried that mission across borders, establishing a tangible presence in Myanmar where the need is both urgent and deeply personal.
At the heart of their Myanmar work is the Home of Hope, a group home that has become a refuge for children displaced by the country's ongoing turmoil. Home of Hope shelters 50 children of all ages, many of whom ended up there as a direct result of civil unrest in the country. When the organization first arrived, malnutrition was a major problem among the children. Since then, ORE has worked to reverse that reality — providing consistent meals, medical care, education, and a safe environment. They recently completed construction of a new facility, giving the children a stable, secure place to grow up.
